Welcome to our little slice of the catering world. If you would let me introduce myself and my team, I do have a little bit of a story to tell.
My name is Amy and I spent over 30 years in the NHS as a nurse – mostly in geriatric community mental health. I loved the job – well mostly I loved the people I cared for.
During that time, it is fair to say my life wasn’t very happy. I don’t want to go into the details, but fair to say that my marriage was an abusive one but eventually I did find the courage to leave and met a wonderful man, who, when I told him my dream had always been to have my own coffee shop didn’t laugh. He didn’t tell me I was stupid or that it was a silly idea. He encouraged me and told me to go and make it a reality.
And then in February this year he did something amazing – he bought a ratty old 1970’s caravan from a seller on eBay.
I absolutely feel in love with her. She looked a bit battered and unloved but I just knew with some TLC that she, like me, would be able to live her best life.
My man didn’t just buy the caravan. Despite the fact that we only moved into our home together in December, he spent evenings and weekends fitting her out. She has all new plumbing and electrics and everything not only works but we have all the necessary safety certificates.
We did all of our food hygiene courses and when the time finally came, my wonderful PoFfles got a hygiene rating of 5!
So now you will find us building the business. We’re doing as many festivals and markets and events as we can so be sure to look out for us.
